Hi! My name is Dan Straffon and welcome to Straffon Math Academy. I've been teaching overseas at top international schools in Croatia, Argentina, China, and Peru since 2011. Born to two teachers in Kinshasa, Zaire, I've been in the international school community for most of my life. I love it, and I find great joy in teaching. Currently I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina with my wife and two dogs, teaching online. I watch way too much soccer, I love a good asado, and I genuinely love teaching math, which I know sounds strange, but it's true.
I built this program as a dream I've had for many years. I believe something special happens when students get to work in small, ability-based groups with a strong curriculum and real structure. I've seen the power of challenging students where they are in my own classroom, and I want to recreate that at Straffon Math Academy.
